Malden Mills requests two-week extension for filing schedules, statement of financial affairs

By Jennifer Lanning Drey

Portland, Ore., Jan. 18 - Malden Mills Industries, Inc. asked the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Massachusetts to extend the time that the company may file its schedules and statement of financial affairs to Feb. 13, according to a Thursday filing with the court.

The documents are currently required to be filed by Jan. 30.

The company said it is behind in preparing the documents because its Chapter 11 case was originally filed in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware, which allows an automatic 30-day extension for filing the schedules and statements.

Additionally, the company said its business affairs are complex and need to be carefully assigned in its respective schedules and statement of affairs.

Malden Mills is a Lawrence, Mass.-based textile company. Its Chapter 11 case number is 07-40124.
