Magna Entertainment hearing on examiner appointment again continued

By Jennifer Lanning Drey

Portland, Ore., June 11 - The hearing on a Magna Entertainment Corp. unsecured creditor's request that the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware appoint an examiner for the company's bankruptcy case was postponed for a second time, according to a Thursday court filing.

The hearing is now scheduled for July 7.

It was previously scheduled for June 11.

As previously reported, Greenlight Capital Offshore Partners filed the motion for an examiner on March 27.

At the time, Greenlight said the appointment was justified "due to the numerous substantial pre-filing and post-filing insider transactions occurring."

Magna, an Aurora, Ont.-based owner and operator of horse racetracks, filed for bankruptcy on March 5. Its Chapter 11 case number is 09-10720.
