LyondellBasell adds 13 U.S. non-operating entities to bankruptcy case

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, May 8 - LyondellBasell Industries has added 13 U.S. non-operating entities to Lyondell Chemical Co.'s Chapter 11 bankruptcy case for administrative purposes, according to a company news release.

LyondellBasell said these filings will have no impact on current business or operations because none of the entities manufactures or sells products.

In addition, the debtors' claims bar date will be moved to June 30 so there is only one claims deadline for all bankrupt entities.

Lyondell Chemical is a U.S. subsidiary of LyondellBasell Industries AF SCA, a Netherlands-based polymer, petrochemicals and fuels company.

LyondellBasell's U.S. operations and one of its European holding companies filed for bankruptcy on Jan. 6 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. The Chapter 11 case number is 09-10023.
