Longview Power secures exclusivity extension to avoid competing plans

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Jan. 20 – Longview Power, LLC obtained a third extension of its exclusive Chapter 11 plan filing and solicitation periods, according to an order filed Tuesday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

Longview’s exclusive filing period was extended through Feb. 28 from Dec. 31 and its solicitation period through April 30 from March 2.

The company said that the extension will allow it to complete a “complex operational and financial restructuring without burdening the estates with competing Chapter 11 plans,” according to the motion.

Longview said it is now focused on obtaining confirmation of its amended plan of reorganization, which backstoppers holding more than 60% of pre-bankruptcy debt support.

Longview, an integrated power generation enterprise based in Maidsville, W.Va., filed for bankruptcy on Aug. 30, 2013. The Chapter 11 case number is 13-12211.
