S&P: Lithuania notes BBB

Standard & Poor's said it assigned a BBB rating to the 10-year notes originally issued in March by the Republic of Lithuania, which are being reopened and expanded.

The rating is equalized with the long-term sovereign rating on Lithuania.

The ratings reflect the proven commitment across political parties to support and implement budgetary and structural policies that anchor the currency-board regime, S&P said, and enhance the country's flexible labor and goods markets.

The ratings are constrained by the more limited fiscal, and especially monetary, policy buffers that are a function of the government's commitment to the currency board and the country's still-significant external burden, the agency said.
