Lion Global to manage two upcoming funds investing in Asian markets

By Toni Weeks

San Luis Obispo, Calif., Feb. 7 - Advisers Investment Trust plans to offer two new funds that target investments in Asian markets, according to an N-1A filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The Lion Global Investors Asian Credit High Yield Fund will seek total investment return consisting of a combination of income and capital appreciation. It will invest primarily in dollar-denominated debt securities of sovereign and corporate issuers in the Asian markets. Under normal market conditions, the fund will invest at least 80% of its net assets, plus borrowings for investment purposes, in non-investment-grade debt or debt-related securities of Asian sovereign issuers as well as high-yield securities of non-governmental entities underwritten in and sold primarily to investors in the Asian markets.

Lead portfolio manager Veronica Ng, credit analyst Ching-Ching Chua and head of fixed income Chiong-Tuck Phoon will comprise the portfolio management team.

The Lion Global Investors Asian Local Currency Bond Fund will seek total return consisting of a combination of income, currency appreciation and capital appreciation by investing in local Asian currency-denominated debt or debt-related securities issued by governments, supranational institutions or government-related bodies, companies and other large organizations based in or carrying much of their business in the Asian markets.

San-San Goh will lead a portfolio management team that includes credit analyst Serene Lm as well as Phoon.

Each fund will each offer class A, class C and class I shares. The ticker symbols have not been set.

Shareholder fees for either fund will include a 4.25% sales load for class A shares and a 1% maximum deferred sales load for class C shares.

The management fee will be 0.5%. Including other expenses and a fee waiver agreement with the investment adviser, total annual fund operating expenses are expected to be 1.5% for class A shares, 2.25% for class C shares and 1.25% for class I shares.

Singapore-based Lion Global Investors Ltd. will be the investment adviser to the funds.
