Linens 'n Things seeks to convert Chapter 11 cases to Chapter 7 cases

By Lisa Kerner

Charlotte, N.C., Feb. 16 - Linens Holding Co., its subsidiary debtors and debtors-in-possession want the company's Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases converted to Chapter 7 cases as of Feb. 26 and requested the court to appoint a Chapter 7 trustee, according to a Friday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The debtors do not have sufficient liquid assets to fund their Chapter 11 cases, the filing said.

A hearing is scheduled for Feb. 19.

The court recently extended the company's plan of reorganization effective date deadline to Feb. 19 from Feb. 11.

Linens, a Clifton, N.J., home furnishings specialty retailer, filed for bankruptcy on May 2, 2008. Its Chapter 11 case number is 08-10832.
