By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Sept. 5 - Linens Holding Co. said Robert J. DiNicola resigned as the holding company's executive chairman of the board and as an employee of Linens 'n Things, Inc., effective Aug. 29, according to an 8-K filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

DiNicola will continue to serve as a director and non-executive chairman of the board of each of the companies.

As a result of his resignation, Linens said DiNicola's employment agreement was terminated, and he is not entitled to receive any severance payments or other compensation in connection with his resignation other than unpaid base salary and benefits accrued through the date of termination.

Linens 'n Things, a Clifton, N.J., home furnishings specialty retailer, filed for bankruptcy on May 2 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware. Its Chapter 11 case number is 08-10832.
