Liberty Media, DirecTV shareholders to vote on split, merger Nov. 19

Charlotte, N.C., Oct. 22 - Liberty Media Corp. will ask its stockholders to vote in favor of splitting off the company's subsidiary, Liberty Entertainment, Inc., at a special meeting of stockholders at 9:30 a.m. ET on Nov. 19 in New York.

Stockholders will also be asked to approve a business combination of Liberty Entertainment with DirecTV Group, Inc., according to a Liberty Media news release.

DirecTV announced it will also hold its special meeting at 11 a.m. ET on Nov. 19 in New York for the purpose of approving the deal.

The record date for both meetings is Oct. 9, the companies said.

DirecTV announced plans to combine with Liberty Entertainment in May.

DirecTV is an El Segundo, Calif., provider of digital multichannel television entertainment.

Liberty Media is an Englewood, Colo., entertainment company.
