Moody's: No ratings changes for LG Electronics

Moody's Investors Service said that the improved profitability in the mobile and home entertainment businesses of LG Electronics Inc. in the fourth quarter will not have an immediate impact on its Baa2 rating and negative outlook.

The company reported KRW 23 billion in operating profit for the fourth quarter, reflecting its return to profitability in the mobile business and the relatively strong performance in its home entertainment business, Moody's said.

LGE showed some positive traction in both mobile and TV segments in the quarter, which was largely aligned with expectations as of end of 2011, the agency said.

While Moody's said it expects consolidated profit to continue improving in 2012, concerns regarding the company's overall competitive line-up across mobile and other key business segments remain.
