Goldman Sachs buys $189 million of Harbinger claims against Lehman

Pittsburgh, Aug. 9 - Goldman Sachs Lending Partners, LLC bought a total of $189 million of Harbinger Capital Partners Master Fund I, Ltd.'s claims against Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. and Lehman Brothers Special Financing Inc., according to Monday filings with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.

Specifically, Goldman bought $94.5 million portions of two of Harbinger's $264 million claims against the Lehman debtors.

New York-based Lehman Brothers Holdings was the fourth-largest investment bank in the United States. The company filed for bankruptcy on Sept. 15, 2008. Its Chapter 11 case number is 08-13555.
