Lehman U.S. Trustee declines official equity committee appointment

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, April 28 - Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. U.S. Trustee Diana G. Adams responded to a shareholder's letter asking the court to appoint an official equity committee Wednesday, saying that she "declined to appoint an official equity committee at this time," according to a filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.

Adams said she considered shareholder Troy A. Uhlman's letter to the court in case the court decided to treat the letter as a motion for appointment of an equity committee.

The U.S. Trustee said her decision was based on the current status of Lehman's bankruptcy case.

New York-based Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. was the fourth-largest investment bank in the United States. The company filed for bankruptcy on Sept. 15, 2008. Its Chapter 11 case number is 08-13555.
