Lehman estimates $819.27 billion claims filed in bankruptcy case

Pittsburgh, March 29 - Lehman Brothers Holdings, Inc. has had a total of $695.558 billion of an estimated $819.273 billion of claims filed against it according to the official claims register to date, according to an 8-K filed Monday with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Of the claims filed so far, $170.373 billion are direct third party claims filed against Lehman Brothers Holdings, $68.742 billion represent intercompany payables to affiliates, $254.988 billion are guarantee claims filed by third parties of affiliates and $201.467 billion are guaranteed claims filed by affiliates.

Lehman said the count of estimated claims after an initial analysis is $605.384 billion, and $259.894 billion of claims are expected to be allowed under Lehman's plan of reorganization.

According to the 8-K, there are also potentially significant unliquidated claims against the company, and the Internal Revenue Service's claims bar date is June 30.

The bar date for other claims expired in November.

New York-based Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. was the fourth-largest investment bank in the United States. The company filed for bankruptcy on Sept. 15, 2008. Its Chapter 11 case number is 08-13555.
