Lehman reports $20.28 billion in cash and investments at Sept. 30

Pittsburgh, Oct. 18 - Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. said it had $20.278 billion in cash and investments as of Sept. 30, up from $19.803 billion at the end of August, according to its monthly operating report filed Monday with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The September cash and investments figure included $180 million in loans, $148 million in derivatives and $279 million in private equity/principal investing.

New York-based Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. was the fourth-largest investment bank in the United States. The company filed for bankruptcy on Sept. 15, 2008 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. Its Chapter 11 case number is 08-13555.
