S&P affirms Latvia ratings

S&P Global Ratings said it affirmed its A-/A-2 long- and short-term foreign and local currency sovereign credit ratings on the Republic of Latvia.

The outlook is stable.

“Our ratings on Latvia remain supported by the country's generally sound institutional effectiveness, modest general government deficits, and declining net public debt burden. The ratings are constrained by relatively low GDP per capita, long-term challenges associated with a declining population, and external financing risks,” S&P said in a news release.
