S&P rates Anadarko notes BBB-

Standard & Poor's said it assigned its BBB- rating to Anadarko Petroleum Corp.'s proposed senior unsecured notes.

The company intends to use proceeds for general corporate purposes and for the repayment of its floating-rate notes that mature in 2009, the agency said.

S&P added that the long-term corporate credit rating on Anadarko is BBB- and the outlook is stable.
