Fitch assigns Anadarko notes BBB-

Fitch Ratings said it has assigned a BBB- rating to Anadarko Petroleum Corp.'s issuance of five- and 10-year senior unsecured notes.

Fitch said it rates Anadarko's debt securities as follows: -long-term issuer default rating BBB-; short-term issuer default rating F3; senior unsecured BBB-; bank loan BBB-; and commercial paper F3.

The agency said it also rates Kerr-McGee Corp. at long-term issuer default rating BBB-; and senior unsecured BBB-.

The outlook is stable.

Anadarko is issuing about $1.1 billion in senior notes to help refinance about $1.5 billion in upcoming maturities in 2009, the agency said.
