Laboratory Corp. investors, led by Longview, increase stake in company to 6.2%

Charlotte, N.C., March 2 - Laboratory Corp. of America Holdings investors led by Longview Asset Management, LLC purchased 448,437 shares of the company's stock from Feb. 15 through March 1 priced between $71.39 and $79.51 per share, according to a schedule 13D filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Longview representatives have discussed the business operations and assets with Laboratory Corp. management and may continue to communicate with the management, as well as with other shareholders and the board of directors, in the future, according to the filing.

The reporting persons beneficially own 7,584,731 shares, or 6.2%, of the Burlington, N.C.-based medical testing company's outstanding shares.

Laboratory Corp. stock (NYSE: LH) closed at $70.17 on March 1.
