Moody's: KT unaffected by possible acquisition

Moody's Investors Service said that the developments regarding KT Corp.'s possible acquisition of a 20% stake in South Africa-based Telkom SA Ltd. would have any immediate impact on KT's A3 rating or negative outlook.

"Moody's does not see any significant benefits for KT from the investment in the near to medium term. The company's ratings will continue to be driven by its ability to reverse ARPU declines and profitability trends in its core market, where the degree of competition and uncertainties over regulatory pressures remains high," Moody's assistant vice president and analyst Yoshio Takahashi said in a news release.
