S&P: Kraton Polymers on positive watch

Standard & Poor's said it placed the B+ corporate credit rating on Kraton Polymers LLC on CreditWatch with positive implications.

The watch reflects an expectation that improved credit metrics could warrant a modestly higher rating after a review of the company's operating prospects and industry trend expectations, S&P said.

The watch also considers a view that Kraton is likely to continue to benefit from favorable pricing trends and volumes gains in the near term, the agency said.

The ratings reflect the company's weak business risk profile, which stems from its narrow focus on the styrenic block copolymers market and vulnerability to raw material and demand cycles, S&P added.
