Fitch: Kosmos unaffected by acquisition

Fitch said that Kosmos Energy's (B+/stable) recently announced acquisition of Deep Gulf Energy should strengthen its business profile and increase diversification while having a limited impact on credit metrics.

However, the deal is insufficient for an upgrade or outlook revision, the agency said.

The company's senior secured notes are rated B+ with a recovery rating of RR4.

“We continue to view development of the Tortue project off Mauritania and Senegal as the primary rating driver for Kosmos in the medium term,” Fitch said in a news release.
