KKR Asset Management adds Mukadam, Beattie; relocates Zilkha

By Toni Weeks

San Diego, March 1 - Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. LP's KKR Asset Management LLC has appointed Mubashir Mukadam as European head of special situations, added Jessica Beattie to the special situations group in New York and relocated Nat Zilkha, co-head of special situations, to London, according to a press release.

Mukadam will focus on secondary purchases of distressed assets as well as rescue lending and structured investments in Europe and will be based in London. He was most recently managing director at York Capital Management, helping York to grow the firm's European distressed-debt platform. Prior to York, Mukadam was a director of Deutsche Bank's distressed products group.

Mukadam is the second senior hire KKR has made recently in the special situations business.

In September, Beattie joined the firm's New York office to focus on secondary distressed and structured investments. Beattie joined the firm from Eton Park Capital Management, where she was a senior analyst on the event-driven investment team. Prior to Eton Park, she was a partner with R6 Capital management and vice president in the special situations group at Goldman Sachs.

KKR also said in the release that Zilkha has relocated to London. He will continue to report to Bill Sonneborn, member and head of asset management. Prior to joining KKR in 2007, Zilkha spent eight years with Goldman Sachs' Principal Investment Area focused on private equity and principal debt transactions.

KKR is an investment firm in New York.
