Knight Libertas forms emerging markets sales team in U.S., U.K., Asia

Milwaukee, Nov. 2 - Knight Capital Group, Inc. announced that Knight Libertas has established a global emerging markets sales team based in Greenwich, Conn., London and Hong Kong.

Knight Libertas has hired Augusto Castilho, Eamon Tubridy and Alfredo Viegas as directors and Elena Antonova as an associate of the team in the United States. Alesandro Gherzi, Alisa Mujagic, Nipun Ramaiya, Darren Reiss, Richard Segal and Will Trossell have joined Knight as directors of the team in the United Kingdom. Representing the sales team in Asia are directors Jay Lee and Felix Sun.

"Knight is pleased to announce these hires as part of the build-out of our global emerging markets business, which will focus on names across Latin America, Eastern Europe/Russia, Africa and Asia," said Dan Mullineaux, managing director and global head of emerging markets fixed income, in a press release.

Castilho is sales director of Latin America, emerging markets sales. Prior to working at Knight, Castilho was the head of emerging markets fixed income for Itau USA Securities. He has also worked at institutions in the United States and Brazil as a trader of institutional proprietary money. Castilho specializes in international, sovereign and corporate securities.

Tubridy is a director of emerging markets sales. Before joining Knight, Tubridy worked at RBS in emerging market sales. He has nearly 20 years of experience in emerging markets, primarily on the buy-side as a trader and analyst at Salomon Brothers Asset Management, OppenheimerFunds, Nomura Corporate Research & Asset Management and Moore Capital.

A director of emerging markets sales at Knight, Viegas previously managed global credit and multi-strategy hedge funds at Advent Capital and Tiedemann Investment Group. At Salomon Brothers he was a Latin America equity strategist and emerging market corporate bond analyst. Viegas also covered Latin America at Morgan Stanley.

Antonova is a desk analyst for the emerging markets team. Prior to joining Knight, Antonova was an emerging markets analyst with RenCap Securities for equities and fixed income. Antonova also worked for KPMG in Russia as an auditor.

Gherzi is a director of emerging markets sales in London. Previously employed by J.P. Morgan, Gherzi worked in credit, cash, foreign exchange and structured product sales. He was in emerging markets origination and sales for Credit Suisse First Boston and worked at Lehman Brothers International in the syndication and debt capital markets group.

Mujagic is director of merging markets sales and African trading. Before, Mujagic was with UBA Global Capital for sales and trading in Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa local and external corporate and sovereign debt. She also focused on Egypt and Sub-Saharan Africa external and local debt as associate director with UBS Investment Bank.

In London, Ramaiya is director of emerging markets sales. Ramaiya traded and structured emerging market products at Royal Bank of Scotland, prior to working at Knight. He also traded foreign exchange options, local markets and emerging markets for Merrill Lynch.

Reiss is a director of emerging markets sales. Reiss was formerly director of emerging markets sales at HSBC covering U.K. hedge funds. He set up the U.K. sales team of MarketAxess. He began his career at Hambros/RBC and was responsible for investment grade credit sales to the Benelux markets.

At Knight, Segal conducts analysis on Europe, Middle East and Africa corporates as well as emerging market sovereigns. For the past two years, Segal has focused on the African markets at UBA and Renaissance Capital. He was chief strategist at Argo Capital and worked at Salomon Brothers, Bank of America and Santander Investment. He has also been a consultant to commercial banks.

Prior to becoming a director of the emerging markets team, Trossell established the emerging markets sales desk at Calyon CIB and focused on trading credit bonds. Trossell was previously on the emerging markets sales team at UBS.

Lee is a director of emerging markets sales in Hong Kong. Lee was the head of structured credit and credit sales at Calyon CIB, where he was responsible for covering the Korean markets. Before that, Lee was vice president of fixed income at Fortis Bank.

Sun is also a director of emerging markets sales in Hong Kong. Sun worked at RBC for two years in fixed income and structured product sales. Previously, he was a bond portfolio manager at Ping An bank for six years. At AXA Investment Managers, Felix was a risk management analyst. He began his career at Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ as a marketing manager in the corporate loan sales department.
