KLA-Tencor: tender offer for Therma-Wave delayed until May 17 due to pending foreign approval

Charlotte, N.C., April 17 - KLA-Tencor once again extended its $1.65-per-share tender offer for Therma-Wave, Inc., this time to midnight ET on May 17 from April 18, a company news release stated.

The delay will allow time for approval of the $75 million merger by the German Federal Cartel Office as well as an associated waiting period that expires on May 14, according to the release.

The offer, announced on Jan. 7, was originally slated to close on close Feb. 12.

KLA-Tencor, based in San Jose, Calif., provides yield management and process control solutions to semiconductor manufacturing and related industries.

Therma-Wave is a Fremont, Calif., developer of proprietary process control metrology products used in semiconductor manufacturing.
