S&P affirms Kirby

Standard & Poor's said it affirmed the A- long-term corporate credit rating on Kirby Corp.

The outlook is stable.

The company's financial profile is expected to gradually improve with higher earnings and strong cash flow generation, S&P said.

The agency said it also expects the company to use a portion of its cash to pay down debt, the agency said.

S&P also said it assumes Kirby will make modest acquisitions periodically to bolster operations. This limits upside potential to the rating, the agency added.
