S&P: Kinetic Concepts unaffected

Standard & Poor's said Monday that its ratings and outlook on specialty hospital surfaces and noninvasive medical device manufacturer Kinetic Concepts Inc. will not be affected by the company's planned initial public offering.

Kinetic Concepts could raise as much as $100 million of new capital from the IPO, which would be largely used to reduce debt. S&P said the debt reduction would both improve credit protection and enhance the company's capacity to expand its medical products base within the parameters of the current ratings and outlook.
