Kimball Hill granted three-month exclusivity extension

By Jennifer Lanning Drey

Portland, Ore., Jan. 13 - Kimball Hill, Inc. obtained a three-month extension to its exclusive periods to file a plan of reorganization and solicit votes on the plan from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois, an attorney said Tuesday.

The exclusive plan-filing period was extended to April 16 from Jan. 16 and the solicitation period to June 16, 2009 from March 16.

When requesting the extension, the company said it needed to maintain its exclusive rights during this "critical juncture to preserve the stability of these cases."

Kimball Hill has filed its disclosure statement and said it expects to receive approval for the document in mid-January. The company expects the confirmation hearing will be scheduled for mid-March.

Kimball Hill, a Rolling Meadows, Ill.-based homebuilder, filed for bankruptcy on April 23, 2008. Its Chapter 11 case number is 08-10095.
