Kid Brands unsecured creditor committee looks to hire legal counsel

New York, July 25 – Kid Brands, Inc.’s official committee of unsecured creditors is seeking court authorization to employ Kelley Drye & Warren LLP as its legal counsel, according to a Friday motion with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of New York.

If, approved, the hiring will be retroactive to July 2.

The committee selected Kelley Drye based on the firm’s experience in representing creditor committees in bankruptcy and other corporate restructurings, according to the motion.

Kelley Drye will assist the committee in its negotiations with Kid Brands and its investigation of the company’s value, analyze creditor claims, perform all legal needs of the committee and represent it in court as necessary.

Attorneys responsible for the case will be paid an hourly rate between $330 and $950.

A hearing is scheduled for Aug. 7.

Kid Brands, an East Rutherford, N.J.-based designer, importer, marketer and distributor of infant and juvenile consumer products, filed for bankruptcy June 18. The Chapter 11 case number is 14-22582.
