KB Toys asks for extension to exclusive period to solicit votes

New York, June 10 - KB Toys, Inc. requested an extension to its exclusive period to solicit votes in a filing Friday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The motion asking for additional time - the new deadline would be Sept. 1 instead of July 15 - was filed jointly by the company and the official committee of unsecured creditors.

KB Toys said it needs more time because the hearing to approve the disclosure statement and consider results of the planned auction of the company is set for July 14.

A hearing on the extension is also planned for July 14.

The Pittsfield, Mass.-based toy retailer filed for bankruptcy on Jan. 14, 2004. Its Chapter 11 case number is 04-10120.
