Kazakhstan places no 8.44% treasury bonds due 2031 at Monday auction

By Marisa Wong

Morgantown, W.Va., Sept. 17 – The Kazakhstan Finance Ministry said it auctioned no additional long-term treasury bonds (Meukam-156, sixth issue) at the repeated special trading session held on Monday due to unfavorable prices on orders submitted.

The ministry had planned to place a further KZT 25 billion of the bonds, according to a Kazakhstan Stock Exchange notice.

The ministry issued an initial KZT 25 billion of the 8.44% 13-year bonds on May 10, another KZT 25 billion on June 11, an additional KZT 50.3 billion on July 16 and KZT 50 billion more on Aug. 13, as previously reported.
