Moody's ups 8 Thai banks view to stable

Moody's Investors Service said it revised to stable from negative the outlook on the foreign-currency debt and deposit ratings of eight Thai banks.

This outlook change follows a change in the outlook to stable for Thailand's Baa1 foreign-currency deposit ceiling and Baa1 foreign- and local-currency government bond ratings. The country's foreign-currency bond ceiling was increased by one notch to A2 with a stable outlook.

The following ratings had the outlook revision:

Bangkok Bank's foreign-currency long-term deposit rating of Baa1, foreign-currency senior debt rating of A3 and foreign-currency subordinated debt rating of Baa1; Export-Import Bank of Thailand's issuer rating of Baa1; Government Housing Bank of Thailand's foreign-currency long-term deposit rating of Baa1; Kasikornbank PCL's foreign-currency long-term deposit rating of Baa1 and foreign-currency subordinated debt rating of Baa1; Krung Thai Bank's foreign-currency long-term deposit rating of Baa1 and foreign-currency certificate of deposit program of Baa1; Siam Commercial Bank Public Co. Ltd.'s foreign-currency long-term deposit rating of Baa1; Standard Chartered Bank (Thai) PCL's foreign-currency long-term deposit rating of Baa1 and issuer rating of A3; and United Overseas Bank (Thai) PCL's foreign-currency long-term deposit rating of Baa1.

All other ratings remain unaffected.
