S&P rates Kansas Gas A-2

S&P said it assigned an A-2 short-term issuer credit rating to Kansas Gas & Electric Co.

The agency said it bases the rating on the company's long-term issuer credit rating of A-.

S&P said it assesses Kansas Gas to be a core subsidiary of Evergy Inc., reflecting a view that Kansas Gas is successful and a significant contributor to the group and highly unlikely to be sold.

Kansas Gas is integral to the overall group strategy, the agency said, and has a strong long-term commitment from senior management.
