Kaiser units granted exclusivity extensions

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, May 19 - Kaiser Aluminum Corp.'s "liquidating debtors" were granted extensions to their exclusive periods to file a plan of reorganization and solicit votes, according to a Thursday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The debtors include Alpart Jamaica Inc., Kaiser Jamaica Corp., Kaiser Alumina Australia Corp. and Kaiser Finance Corp.

The exclusive period to file a plan or reorganization was extended by two months to June 30 and the period to solicit votes on the plan by about 60 days to Aug. 31.

The confirmation of the liquidating plans is scheduled for June. The extension of the exclusive periods was requested to align the exclusive periods with the confirmation.

Kaiser filed for bankruptcy on Feb. 12, 2002. Its Chapter 11 case number is 02-10429.
