Kaiser Aluminum granted four-month exclusivity extension

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Nov. 3 - Kaiser Aluminum Corp. obtained four-month extensions to its exclusive periods to file a plan of reorganization and to solicit votes on the plan, according to a Thursday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The company's exclusive plan filing period was extended to Jan. 31 from Sept. 30 and the solicitation period to March 31 from Nov. 30.

According to the motion, the extension is needed to complete the confirmation process for Kaiser's liquidating debtors before the company can proceed with solicitation for its own plan of reorganization.

Kaiser, a Houston-based aluminum company, filed for bankruptcy on Feb. 12, 2002. Its Chapter 11 case number is 02-10429.
