Amgen price target upped by Jefferies

Amgen Inc. was maintained by Jefferies & Co. analyst Adam Walsh at a buy rating but the price target was raised to $96 per share from $72 following second-quarter earnings. Jefferies also boosted its EPS estimates for 2005 to $3.20 from $2.91 and for 2006 to $3.75 from $3.37, given strong core product growth. Amgen shares Wednesday jumped $10.65, or 15.10%, to $81.17 on volume of 81,144,447 shares versus the three-month running average of 8,010,400 shares.
