By Lisa Kerner

Charlotte, N.C., Dec. 15 – American Water Works Co., Inc. announced its 2015 earnings guidance on Monday.

The company estimates its 2015 earnings from continuing operations will be in the range of $2.55 to $2.65 per share, according to senior vice president and chief financial officer Linda Sullivan.

That is about an 8% increase from 2014, Sullivan said during a conference call with analysts.

American Water is looking to invest about $6 billion in capital expenditures over the next five years, including for miles of pipe replacement annually and to upgrade wastewater treatment facilities, according to management.

“The 2015 guidance is based on the continued execution of our strategic goals as we continue to achieve strong financial and operational performance year over year while delivering clean, safe, reliable and affordable water to our customers,” said president and chief executive officer Susan Story.

The investor-owned water and wastewater utility company is based in Voorhees, N.J.
