Moody’s might drop American Transmission

Moody's Investors Service said it placed American Transmission Co. LLC's (ATC) A1 issuer rating on review for downgrade.

The action follows the recent Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's order to lower authorized base returns on equity (ROEs) for transmission owners operating in the Midcontinent Independent System Operator, Inc. region.

The Prime-1 senior unsecured commercial paper rating is not on review for downgrade.

"The rating review is prompted by our expectations that ATC's financial profile will weaken from lower ROEs," Moody's vice president, senior analyst Jeffrey Cassella said in a news release.
