S&P might cut American Transmission

Standard & Poor's said it placed its A+ corporate credit rating on American Transmission Co. on CreditWatch with negative implications.

The A-1 short-term rating on the company's commercial paper is unchanged.

S&P said the CreditWatch placement reflects the application of the agency’s group ratings methodology to its analysis of American Transmission in response to the announcement by Wisconsin Energy Corp. of an agreement to acquire Integrys Energy Group. Inc.

Wisconsin Energy’s and Integrys' combined ownership interest in American Transmission would reach almost 60%, thereby creating a controlling interest in American Transmission.
