Interfaith Medical Center gets approval of sixth exclusivity extension

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Feb. 3 - Interfaith Medical Center, Inc. obtained a sixth extension of its exclusive periods for filing and soliciting votes on a plan of reorganization, according to a Monday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of New York.

The company's exclusive filing period was extended through March 31 from Jan. 30 and the solicitation period through June 2 from April 3.

Until a final order is entered resolving the medical center's closing and transition motion or an alternative resolution is reached through mediation or otherwise, the company said its ability to finalize and file a Chapter 11 plan is constrained.

As a result, Interfaith said it is seeking the extension to maintain the status quo on its path for emergence from Chapter 11.

This is the medical center's sixth exclusivity extension.

Interfaith, a Brooklyn, N.Y., multi-site health-care system operator, filed for bankruptcy on Dec. 2, 2012. Its Chapter 11 case number is 12-48226.
