Hussey Copper seeks 60-day extension of exclusive period to file plan

By Jim Witters

Wilmington, Del., July 3 - Hussey Copper Corp. is seeking a 60-day extension of its exclusive periods for filing a Chapter 11 plan and soliciting plan acceptances, according to documents filed July 3 with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The company said it needs the additional time to "continue to work toward a consensual Chapter 11 plan for each of the debtors and, at the same time, resolve issues arising with respect to the reconciliation of claims asserted against the debtors' estates and the efficient wind down of the debtors' operations."

If the request is granted, the deadline for filing a Chapter 11 plan would be extended to Sept. 2 from July 4. The exclusive period for soliciting votes would be extended to Nov. 1 from Sept. 2.

A hearing on the request is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. ET on Aug. 24.

Hussey, a Leetsdale, Pa.-based copper products manufacturer now known as HCL Liquidation Ltd., filed for bankruptcy on Sept. 27, 2011. Its Chapter 11 case number is 11-13010.
