Hussey Copper seeks exclusivity extension to work on plan, wind down

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, March 20 - Hussey Copper Corp. is seeking an extension of its exclusive periods for filing and soliciting votes on a plan of reorganization, according to a Tuesday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The company wants to extend its exclusive filing period to May 5 from March 21 and the solicitation period to July 4 from May 20.

Hussey Copper said it has complied with a requirement in a previous exclusivity extension order to provide its official committee of unsecured creditors with a draft plan of liquidation by March 14.

According to the filing, the requested extension will give the company time to work toward a consensual plan, resolve claim issues and liquidate and wind down its operations.

A hearing is scheduled for April 30.

Hussey, a Leetsdale, Pa.-based copper products manufacturer, filed for bankruptcy on Sept. 27. Its Chapter 11 case number is 11-13010.
