By Lisa Kerner

Charlotte, N.C., June 30 - Hungarian Telephone and Cable Corp. said it will evaluate strategic alternatives for the company with the assistance of investment banking firm BNP Paribas Corporate Finance.

The company does not plan to publicly provide additional information about the review until the process is completed, according to a company news release.

Hungarian Telephone and Cable cautioned that there can be no assurances that any particular course of action will be pursued.

The Seattle-based company, along with its subsidiaries, owns and operates local fixed-line telecommunications networks in Hungary.
