Moody's assigns Humana notes Baa3

Moody's Investors Service said it assigned a Baa3 senior unsecured debt rating to Humana Inc.'s (senior debt at Baa3) issuance of $750 million of new long term debt.

The outlook is negative.

Moody's noted that the debt issuance is a draw on the company's shelf registration, which it filed in March 2006.

The company plans to use a portion of the proceeds to repay outstanding borrowings under its credit facility with the balance, if any, to be used for general corporate purposes including the funding of short-term cash needs, potential acquisitions and repurchases of shares of common stock, Moody's said.
