Moody's rates HSBC Bank China

Moody's Investors Service said it assigned A1 long-term and prime-1 short-term foreign- and local-currency issuer ratings to HSBC Bank China.

The outlook is stable.

The ratings reflect the bank's prudent strategy, which helps strengthen its financials and establishes a solid foundation for future expansion, Moody's said.

Moreover, the bank would benefit from potential support from its parent, Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corp., in case of need, the agency said.

Its national market share still is limited, Moody's said, and the bank faces challenges in expanding its branch network and retail business.
