S&P rates Hospira notes BBB

Standard & Poor's said it assigned its BBB rating to Hospira Inc.'s $250 million unsecured notes.

The proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes, which may include the repayment of outstanding indebtedness, the agency said.

"Our ratings on Hospira Inc. reflect its operating strength as a large, established medical products manufacturer with a broad portfolio of noncyclical and entrenched products that generate relatively stable and sustainable cash flow," said S&P credit analyst Cheryl Richer.
