American Airlines December traffic and passenger count down from 2010

Pittsburgh, Jan. 5 - American Airlines, Inc.'s traffic decreased 0.9% in December from December 2010, according to a news release.
Specifically, American's report showed that it logged 10.23 million revenue passenger miles last month, compared to 10.33 million for December 2010.
In addition, the company said capacity was down by 1.2%.
International traffic increased by 3.7% relative to last year as capacity increased by 3.4%, resulting in an increase in international load factor of 0.2 points versus December 2010, the release showed.
The company said its domestic load factor was 81.1%, an increase of 0.2 points year over year, while domestic capacity and traffic were lower by 4.2% and 3.9% year over year, respectively.
According to the release, American boarded 7.01 million passengers in December, down from 7.14 million for the same month of 2010.
AMR Corp., the Fort Worth, Texas-based parent of American Airlines, filed for bankruptcy on Nov. 29 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. Its Chapter 11 case number is 11-15463.
