hhgregg requests continuation of hearing in light of sale objections

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, April 5 – hhgregg, Inc. asked the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Indiana to continue the April 7 hearing on phase two of its going-out-of-business sales and to deem any relief granted on the phase two request to be interim in nature, according to a motion filed Wednesday.

The company said several parties have objected to the motion, and the U.S. Trustee is expected to file an objection arguing that the phase two sale motion improperly attempts to combine two separate matters, the approval of the retention of the consultant and approval of the sale procedures.

In addition, the U.S. Trustee’s objection is expected to state that the sale consultant is a professional that must be hired in accordance with the Bankruptcy Code.

hhgregg, which filed for Chapter 11 on March 6, is an Indianapolis-based specialty retailer of consumer electronics and home appliances. The Chapter 11 case number is 17-01302.
