Ameren Illinois plans $280 million 30-year secured note sale

Virginia Beach, Dec. 5 - Ameren Illinois Co. announced plans to issue $280 million of 30-year senior secured notes on Thursday, according to a market source and a 424B3 filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Proceeds will be used to repay the company's 8.875% senior secured notes due Dec. 15, 2013 and to repay short-term debt.

BNP Paribas Securities Corp., BofA Merrill Lynch, Mitsubishi UFJ Securities and RBC Capital Markets LLC were the joint bookrunners.

SunTrust Robinson Humphrey Inc., TD Securities (USA) LLC, Drexel Hamilton, Ramirez & Co. and U.S. Bancorp Investments Inc. are the co-managers.

Ameren Illinois is a subsidiary of St. Louis-based electric and natural gas company Ameren Corp.
