Chicago, Feb. 27 - Hess Corp. registered to sell an unspecified amount of securities in an S-3ASR filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Covered by the shelf are common stock, debt securities, warrants, preferred stock, depositary shares, purchase contract and units.

The securities may be issued as convertibles.

Proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes.

The issuer is an energy company based in New York.
