Heilig-Meyers posts $145,000 June operating loss

Pittsburgh, July 29 - Heilig-Meyers Co. reported a $145,000 operating loss for June on zero sales, according to its monthly operating report filed Friday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.

In May, the company posted a $612,000 operating loss on sales of $28.23 million.

The net loss for June was $60.48 million, up from a $1.86 million in May.

Cash at June 30 was $23.80 million, compared to $18.21 million at the end of May.

Heilig-Meyers, a Richmond, Va.-based furniture retailer, filed for bankruptcy on Aug. 16, 2000. Its Chapter 11 case number is 00-34533.
